Saline Up Close and How We Help Its Homeowners

French explorers called the river here Saline, meaning salty, after the salt they gathered from springs nearby. Government surveyor Orange Risdon, usually named as the town’s founder, helped establish it in 1832. Saline became a village in 1866 and a city in 1931, and the 2020 census counted 8,948 residents, with Saline Township bordering it to the southwest.

The Saline River still runs through the city, and US-12 passes through the center as East Michigan Avenue. The Davenport House, an 1875 Second Empire home, is one of its best-known buildings, and the town hosts a yearly Celtic Festival and has been paired with Brecon, Wales, as a sister city since 1966.

Garage and Basement Floor Finishes Built for Saline Homes

Winter driving around Saline means road salt, and the slush that melts off your tires settles onto the garage slab. Bare concrete absorbs that brine plus oil and grit, and over time the surface can scale and wear. A sealed coating or a polished finish gives you a floor you can simply hose or sweep clean.

For basements, we look the slab over for cracks, staining and leftover paint or sealer, and we run a moisture test before anything is applied. We are not waterproofers, so if water is getting into the basement, a waterproofing company needs to stop it before we start.

Mobile Boat Care for Saline-Area Owners

If your boat waits between trips on a trailer at your Saline home, your driveway, barn or side yard is where we do the work. If it spends the season tied up at a dock, we can come there instead.

  • Boat polisher guiding a rotary buffer along the navy and white hull of a runabout on its trailer beside a metal outbuilding in Saline, Michigan

    Gelcoat Shine

A hull that leaves white, powdery residue on your fingers is oxidized. A machine polish removes that weathered layer and restores a glossy finish.

    Cosmetic Gelcoat Repair

Scrapes from trailering, chips and minor cracks are filled, faired and blended into the surrounding color. Structural fiberglass repair is not something we offer.

Saline Project Questions

Quick answers for homeowners in Saline and the surrounding townships who are planning a project with us.

Do you work in Lodi, York and Saline townships too?

Yes. Plenty of homes with a Saline address sit outside the city in Lodi, York or Saline Township, and we cover all three. Add your street address to the estimate form so we can confirm the location.

Saline is a long way from Whitmore Lake. Will you still take my job?

Yes. Saline is about 26 miles from our base by road, roughly a 35-minute drive through Ann Arbor, and it sits among the nine towns in our service area list.

Can you paint a brick house that has never been painted?

Yes. Brick is one of the exterior surfaces we paint. Bare brick gets cleaned and prepped before any coating goes on so the paint holds. See our exterior painting page.

Can I get mica flake in my garage instead of a swirled finish?

Yes. Mica flake and swirled mica are both options for a garage floor, and you choose the look. Compare the looks on our mica floor page.

Can a mica floor go in a pole barn or workshop?

Yes. Workshops and barns are among the spaces we coat with mica, as long as the floor is concrete. The slab is checked first, and the prep is planned around its condition.

Can you paint just the trim and doors in a room?

Yes. Interior painting can be as small as the baseboards, casings and doors, with the walls left as they are. More details are on the interior painting page.

Can you paint every interior door in the house?

Yes. Interior doors can be painted throughout the house, or refinished with stain if you prefer the wood look. Details are in the interior door section.

What can be included when you finish a basement?

A basement finish can include drywall, trim, flooring and paint. The concrete is moisture tested before flooring goes down. We do not provide waterproofing. Read about basement finishing.

Can you refinish the cabinets and repaint the kitchen at the same time?

Yes. Cabinet refinishing and interior painting can be handled together as one project. See our cabinet refinishing section.

Can you update a bathroom without replacing the tub?

Yes. A bathroom refresh leaves the tub, shower and toilet in place and freshens up the vanity, flooring, paint and trim. A full remodel replaces more. Both are described in our kitchen and bath section.
